Rochester Mills Brewing Co. Tour

Submitted by Michelle Nasers, Enthusiast Member: We went on the Enthusiast tour at Rochester Mills Beer Co. last Saturday and the tour was AWESOME! Unfortunately, they were expecting 18-20 people, and only 2 of us showed up! We got to do some horizontal tasting of a few different beers that they offer, in various stages of filter and fermentation, as well as a new one (Batch 8000) that will be on tap for their 8th anniversary (party on Thursday, June 22). Eric Briggeman, the brewer, spent over an hour with us and, since it was also National Homebrew Day, the local home brewing club was meeting in the back parking lot of the brewery so we got to check out what they were doing, as well. Eric had a terrific display of various malts, barley and hops set up for us - and door prizes. It was really too bad that more folks didn’t show up, because it was a terrific tour (as most of them are) and Guild members/enthusiasts are truly missing out when they don’t take advantage of the opportunities to tour our great Michigan breweries. Also, I’d like to invite everyone to join a new email group for craft beer/microbrew enthusiasts to get together and discuss great Michigan beer! Praise your favorites, share comments, plan pub crawls and visits to Michigan brewpubs and microbreweries and discuss home brewing. Please go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CraftBeerinMI and click on "Join Group" – this email group is not affiliated with the Michigan Brewers Guild and all are welcome.
